Alicante beaches are the ideal spot to enjoy the summer atmosphere. Their crystalline water and top services make them one of the most visited destinations in the Mediterranean coast. Let’s have a look into the best beaches in Alicante:

  • Playa de San juan

The most famous and biggest Beach in Alicante. Not so far from the city centre, it is full of locals and toruists throughout the whole year.

San Juan is ideal for families, couples or groups of friends. The small ones will enjoy many playgrounds on the sand. There are also several and delicious restaurants by the sea where you can try a delicious paella.

At night, you will enjoy a lively atmosphere. There are many bars by the sea where you can have a cocktail with your naked feet on the sand.

San Juan has an excellent Communication to the city. You can go by tram or bus. You can also park in the different parking areas you will find just in front of the sea.

  • Playa del Postiguet

In this cosy Beach right in the city centre you will be able to enjoy a nice view to the Santa Barbara Castle.

If you are staying in the city centre you can even go on foot.

You may go for sunbathing and swimming, you can also play volleyball or just have a walk by the sea before taking a seat for a snack and a beer.

El Postiguet is close to the old town, the Explanada and the port where you can go at night for a drink or taste a dinner by the sea.

Paseo de Gómiz is just by the sea, you will find a wide choice of restaurants with a nice view over the Mediterranean Sea.

This is one of the most symbolic spots in Alicante. It is the way to both the old town and Playa del Postiguet.

You will walk over a wavy mosaic of 3 colours: red, blue and white. The promenade is surrounded by a row of Palms. The ideal place to take a relaxing walk.

Without any doubt, the icon of Alicante. From the top you will enjoy a breathtaking view over the coast. You can get a guided visit to know more about the story of this monument and its role in the story of the city. Situated on the top of the Benacanil mountain (166m), It was built at the end of the IX Century under muslim domination.

You can access the castle by car, on foot, or you can take the lift just in front of the Postiguet Beach.

Alicante is a city with an important civil and architectonical legacy. Many different cultures (such as the arabs and the romans) have arrived to the city throughout history and the left an important and interesting trace.

We specially recommend 2 museums:

Located in the old town, it is the oldest civil building in Alicante. It offers a wide choice of contemporary art collection.

It also features temporary exhibitions. You can visit it for free everyday except Mondays.

Awarded the best European museum in 2004, it is the most interesting museum in Alicante. You will find a permanente exhibition of Iberian, Roman and Middle age culture together with temporary exhibitions.

The Marq is a children-friendly museum so you are invited to visit it with them.

It is open everyday except Mondays.

The most beautiful neighbourhood in Alicante. It is a must to visit this charming place full of white houses with a lot of plants on their facades and a nice view over the city.

Due to the great number of stops, you can only visit Santa Cruz on foot. You can visit the Ermita de Santa Cruz on the top and then go down and walk into the old town.

There are many other interesting places in the old town such as the town hall, the catedral and the Basilica de Santa Maria.

You can also visit the Mercado Central where you can taste our most traditional products and you will feel a genuine atmosphere.
